Ultra-Hydrating Body Butter
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup jojoba oil (or any liquid oil such as apricot kernel or sweet almond oil)
- 1/4 cup coconut oil
- 1/4 cup beeswax pastilles (vegan alternative: substitute 1/8 cup candelilla wax)
- 2 tablespoons shea butter
- 1 teaspoon calendula-infused oil or vitamin E oil
- 10 drops of lavender essential oil
- 10 drops of frankincense essential oil
- 10 drops of lemon essential oil
Instructions
- Combine the solids (coconut oil, beeswax, and shea butter) in a double boiler or a glass bowl on top of a pot of boiling water. As the bowl heats, the ingredients will start to melt. Stir occasionally as they melt to incorporate and make sure beeswax completely melts or it will feel grainy when it solidifies.
- When all ingredients are completely melted and mixed together, add oils and essential oils. Stir well to combine and pour into sterilized jars or tins. Cover with lid and store in a cool, dry place.

Hi,
Thanks for the recipe, I'm going to replace the coconut oil/shea butter with cannabutter or oil and use it for muscle/nerve pain relief as I already have the essential oils I bought from you, which I love. My diffuser is on right now with grapefruit essential oil.
I live in Canada ! Yeah !! or should I say Eh..... Have a great day. I am...

Diane: Have you considered cannabis infused with essential oils and butters other than the ones you want to omit for muscle pain. It is miraculous for pain.

Hello all the way from Canada, Diane! We appreciate you sharing your own twist to this recipe, so thank you! Have a lovely and healthy day as well!
Karen Barkman says
Can I use beeswax from a block instead of beeswax pastilles for the Ultra-hydrating body butter?
Kristal Sieh says
yes, just grate the block with a cheese grater first so the bees wax can melt easily, if you think you'll make more of your own body care products you may want to pick one up at a second hand store dedicate it to grating beeswax.
Customer Service says
Thanks for your question, Karen. Please feel free to use you own beeswax from a block, while making sure to adjust the heat accordingly. Let us know how you liked the body butter!
Lori says
if I use grated Beeswax from a block how much do I use?
Customer Service says
Hello Lori, thank you for your question.
The recipe for the Ultra-Hydrating Body Butter calls for 1/4 cup of beeswax pastilles. Since 1 cup of beeswax pastilles weighs about 140 grams, you may weigh out 35 grams of grated beeswax.
We hope you can let us know how you are liking your DIY body butter. Wishing you a great weekend!
Shirley says
Could you put this in a pump container or is the consistency too thick?
Customer Service says
Thanks for your question, Shirley! If you are located in a colder climate, this recipe will most probably be too thick for a pump container once it hardens. However, using a pump container can work if you are in a hotter climate, since the coconut oil in it will stay mostly liquid. We hope you enjoy using this body butter!
Lisa Chambliss says
What can you substitute for coconut oil? Coconut dries my skin out.
Customer Service says
Hello Lisa, we are sorry to hear that! A lot of sources have suggested using sunflower seed, grape seed, and almond oil as great substitutes for coconut oil. We hope you find the right one for your skin!
